Fuji 35mm, f1.4, The Good, The Bad and Botanical Garden Shoot
Covering the 35mm Fuji 1.4, but not doing anything like sharpness tests, just going to take you along with me to the Phoenix botanical gardens which are stunning. Some things I can tell you about it, is number one, I love that fact that it is a 1.4 aperture for low light situations or for giving buttery bokeh.
I can also get closer to subjects then a lot of other fuji lenses to get some more macro style shots. To be exact, you can focus up to 11 inches or 28 centimeters from your subject.
Other factors that are really nice about this lens are that it is compact and light.
For video, it does unfortunately hunt and as well is noisier then other lenses when focusing. Also it is not quick at focusing, I would suggest using manual focus if using the 35mm for video. If you are trying to get clean audio close to your camera when filming video and you are wanting to use autofocus, then this would not be the lens to use. Another downside with this lens is that it is not water resistant. A faster focusing Fuji lens would be something like the 16 to 55mm or as well the 35mm, 2.0 version or the 33mm 1.4 version that recently was released.
I do love the images that come out of this lens though and here are some samples from the botanical garden shoot I did with it.
