Hands down one of the most beautiful city's I have visited. I've always held Phoenix in a real high regard, I love Phoenix but Seattle kind of blows it away. You've got everything in Seattle, the city scape, lush trees, a waterfront, it's incredible, every feature you could want in a city is all there.

Seattle Waterfront

One of the spots I really enjoyed shooting at was the Seattle Waterfront, especially when you had some dramatic weather roll in. The only bummer is I tried to fly the drone so many times and just struggled. The no drone sign is posted in various spots and it is just so regulated. I was always checking my app to get FAA approval and in some spots you could get approval at a certain altitude but then you would be on someones private property and asked to leave.

Even without being able to use a drone, there is some amazing vantage points to be able to capture downtown Seattle, the Seattle Waterfront, the Seattle Ferris wheel and Mount Rainier. One spot in particular that is brilliant for that, which I wish I shot from more, is the bridge over Alaskan Way. The bridge is an amazing spot!

Kerry Park

When I went to Kerry Park, which is one of my favorite spots that I shot at, it's not a very big park which you want to be mindful of. We went there two times and both times it was just lined with photographers like nothing I've every seen. Kerry Park is perfect for capturing the city, Space Needle and Mount Rainier in one composition. Just be aware that when you do try to get out and shoot there, it will more than likely be slammed so you may want to try for sunrise to hopefully avoid a crowd.

Space Needle

One other great spot to shoot is down by the space needle, there is some definite cool little spots down there. You do kind of need to be careful, there was a few instances where it did not feel very safe. Luckily I had a friend with me to keep an eye out while I focused on capturing compositions but if you don't have a buddy to do the same, I would suggest going when there is a higher number of people there as when we where there, it was very empty. But otherwise the Space Needle and the surrounding area is a brilliant subject.

Dr. Jose Rizal Park

Dr. Jose Rizal Park is not so much a park, I mean it's almost just like a bridge walkway kind of thing with a little patch of grass up towards the top with a section under the bridge that is pretty sketchy for trying to take photos from. The bridge scared the hell out of me to shoot from. For where I wanted to get my final shot, was directly over a freeway, I had my tripod wedged in between the railing and then I was also holding on to it for dear life as I was just so paranoid and afraid of any of my gear falling and causing some sort of crash. Shooting over cars is so nerve-racking but what an amazing place if you are like me and like to capture long exposures. Dr. Jose Rizal Park is amazing because you've got all the cars flowing in and out of the city and and then you’ve got to the city skyline which is stunning.

I shot back in June and I think I had the perfect timing for if you were on vacation because there was no dramatic weather and Seattle which is known for having lots of weather but I barely had a cloud in the sky so unfortunately that's one thing that’s missing from a lot these images.

Alki Beach

Another spot that's killer to shoot from that is across from the city where you can actually get the whole entire city, is at Alki Beach. I did a Panorama but I kind of really liked the individual shots I took in the panorama of the city from this particular beach. On a side note, if you are at Alki Beach and hungry, my buddy and I went and got tacos at Marination Ma Kai and they were delicious. Alki Beach does seem to get a little sketchy as the sun goes down. Brilliant spot to shoot from though.

Seattle Marriott Waterfront

I stayed at the Marriott downtown on Alaskan Way, which was a great spot because you're kind of in the middle of everything. If you're looking for a spot to stay in the downtown area to do some photography and also be central to everything else, that was a great spot to be and it was a nice experience there at that hotel.

Seattle Summary

To summarize Seattle, if you need a good photo experience and you're looking for an amazing city, I can't recommend Seattle enough, I mean it is charming and stunning and just incredibly lit up at night. If I go back, I have to get more night shots of the city.
